Migration intelligence beyond the EOI dashboard.
SkillSelect is one part of Australia’s migration picture. These ABS series show population-level movements and visa-group context at their published national grain.
- Net overseas migration — Year ending 30 June 2025
- 305.6KAnnual ABS observation · persons
- Migrant arrivals — Year ending 30 June 2025
- 571.4KAnnual ABS observation · persons
- Migrant departures — Year ending 30 June 2025
- 269.8KAnnual ABS observation · persons
How to read this page
Population measures answer a different question.
These series describe migration flows or population estimates published by the ABS. They do not describe a six-digit profession’s invitation prospects, and they should not be combined with EOI stock as though the grains were equivalent.
Published observations
Net overseas migration
Annual net overseas migration for Australia, all ages and persons. Net migration is arrivals minus departures under the ABS measure.
8 annual national observations are shown.
Published observations
Migrant arrivals and departures
Annual national migrant arrivals and departures. Both are flows over a reference year, unlike SkillSelect monthly status stock.
16 annual arrival/departure observations are shown.
Published observations
NOM arrivals by selected visa group — financial year
National NOM arrival measures for total, permanent skill visas and temporary skilled work visas. Visa groups are ABS categories, not SkillSelect pathways.
18 selected annual visa-group observations are shown.
Population context
Largest country-of-birth populations in the latest extracted period.
National estimated resident population, persons of all ages. This is population context, not a migration-program ranking.
Keep grains separate.
Profession-level SkillSelect stock, visa-group migration flows and country-of-birth population estimates each describe a different published unit. MyAustralianVisa preserves those boundaries so a broad ABS trend is never presented as a profession-specific migration outcome.
