1. Source families
The product is built from processed official publications: the Department of Home Affairs SkillSelect dashboard and visa-processing-time material, Australian Bureau of Statistics migration and labour datasets, and official occupational classification tables. The generated web layer does not alter source CSV files.
2. Monthly EOI status stock
SkillSelect observations are monthly point-in-time stocks. A snapshot reports the number of published EOIs observed in statuses such as SUBMITTED, INVITED, LODGED, HOLD and CLOSED at that point in time.
“120 published EOIs were observed in INVITED status at the July snapshot.”
Incorrect interpretation“120 invitations were issued in July.”
Status stock can change because EOIs enter, leave or move between statuses. The change between two stocks is not automatically a count of transitions.
3. EOI statuses
- Submitted
- Published EOIs observed in SUBMITTED status at the snapshot.
- Invited
- Published EOIs observed in INVITED status at the snapshot. This is not monthly invitations issued.
- Lodged
- Published EOIs observed in LODGED status at the snapshot. It is distinct from visa-processing-time data.
- Hold
- Published EOIs observed in HOLD status.
- Closed
- Published EOIs observed in CLOSED status.
4. Observed invited points
Lowest observed invited points is the lowest points score observed among EOIs in INVITED status in a monthly SkillSelect snapshot. The lowest points score observed among EOIs in INVITED status for this SkillSelect monthly snapshot. It is an observed dashboard value, not an official invitation-round cutoff or guarantee.
Unusual published values are retained. They are not clamped to a preferred range. When no invited-points observation exists, the chart contains a gap and the table shows a dash.
5. Points distributions and descriptive comparisons
Distribution charts show published EOI stock by points band, status, month, pathway and state scope. Processed medians, P75 and P90 values are used only where supported by the score distribution. “Submitted EOIs at or above the lowest observed invited points” is a descriptive comparison only; it is not a chance, queue position or probability.
6. Missing, suppressed and zero
Zero means the source recorded a count of zero for that slice. A dash means an observation is missing, not recorded, not applicable, suppressed or not observed. MyAustralianVisa does not silently convert missing values to zero or connect chart lines across missing invited-points observations.
7. Public skilled pathways
A national, points-tested pathway that does not use a state or territory nomination dimension.
A points-tested pathway with nomination by an Australian state or territory.
The regional pathway shown here is state or territory nominated only.
Every public “491” label means the state or territory nominated regional stream only. Other sponsorship categories are outside the public product boundary and are not exposed by application adapters.
8. State dimensions
Subclass 189 is shown as a national view. Subclasses 190 and state-nominated 491 use ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC and WA. Source scopes such as ANY, AUS and NOT_RECORDED are not treated as selectable states.
9. ANZSCO, OSCA and search resolution
Canonical migration profession pages use six-digit ANZSCO codes. Search may contain ANZSCO principal titles, alternative titles, specialisations, NEC titles and OSCA titles. OSCA is not automatically equivalent to migration ANZSCO. An OSCA search term resolves to a canonical page only where an official correspondence provides a safe destination; ambiguous and unmapped terms are labelled rather than guessed.
10. Visa processing times
Visa processing times are a separate Home Affairs measure. Percentiles describe the time taken to process visa applications in the published reference period. They are not EOI wait times and do not describe invitation timing. The 189 points-tested, 190, and 491 state or territory nominated processing rows are selected explicitly.
11. ABS migration and labour context
ABS series retain their source grain: national or state population measures, visa-group migration flows, all-industry or industry labour measures and time-series context. Average Weekly Earnings at an all-industry grain is not presented as the salary of a six-digit occupation.
12. Rankings and change windows
Rankings use named processed fields such as invited presence across available snapshots, valid 12-month submitted-stock percentage change and valid 12-month movement in lowest observed invited points. A change is not calculated across a missing endpoint. No composite “migration score” is used.
13. Limitations
- Published dashboard data may be rounded, suppressed or revised by the source.
- An EOI is not the same as a person, visa grant or place in a queue.
- The processed source does not contain occupation-specific salaries, employment counts or migrant arrivals/departures.
- Historical observations describe the past. They do not predict an invitation or visa outcome.
- Classification correspondences can be one-to-many or absent.
